The One That Didn't Get Away

On a quick visit to Fishers Green my attention was drawn by the guttural call of a great crested grebe. It flattened itself to the water and headed for another grebe that I hadn't spotted. I thought at first that it was courtship behaviour but then noticed that the other grebe had a big fish in its bill which it was having difficulty swallowing but didn't want to share. Eventually it dropped the fish and both birds dived. One surfaced with the fish, don't know whether it was the one that caught it, and it managed to put it away.
