Onwards and Upwards

Malcolm's last moments at West Barns Primary School. I cannot imagine a better start in life. We cried, we laughed, we hugged, we high-fived. What a joy and a privilege to be a parent of these children at this school.

A lot of what motivates me day on day, is to ensure that my children won't experience the negativity, the bullying, the "think you're smart do you?" crap I grew up with.

It struck me today that's going to plan.

Another astonishing aspect of the day was my respect for the children as people. They are already their own individual selves, fully interacting with the community and representing their own views. When I bumped into a village gossip, she told me that she'd just been speaking to Malcolm and how he'd explained the day to her. I have some letting-go to do!

Life has its ups and downs, but my children are as happy as can be. How utterly wonderful.
