Life in Sunny Dubai

Driving home

(15/3/24)

We didn't make it to the supermarket yesterday, so there was no milk or bread in the morning. I got myself to work in record time - 10 minutes and headed straight to the Tower Shop, but it was closed. Argh. Costa was open, so I got a croissant from there and got to my desk.

I haven't had anything in writing notifying me what my hours are or what the protocol is for people who are not fasting, so it was good to learn in time that you can only drink water at your desk. Everything else (food/tea/coffee) has to be in the pantry. I'm not used to making a cup of tea and then taking time out to drink it. I have to say, stopping for those minutes is really helpful. I got to have a couple of good conversations with people.

G had an Iftar with her 4get-me-not group, so I dropped her off to catch the bus. I then called in at Spinneys for a few essentials before carefully choosing my route home. There is a lot of traffic out there. Fifteen-minute journeys are taking three times as long. :(

I enjoyed my quiet evening catching up on a few things, the first of which was to do a screen capture of Eileen's sister's funeral so the family can have it after it gets taken down. I then created a new video and managed to post it as well. G came home very pleased with her evening.
