Living my dream

While gardening at K's this morning I met the latest of her quirky sculptures. He arrived over the weekend. The specs are genius. In fact he's altogether wonderful. Made from old farm and garden metal.

It's been overcast and breezy, so a perfect day for jobs which would be sweaty if the temperatures were higher.

Accordingly I've been raking up mulch which the blackbirds have biffed out of the bamboo bed in their search for wigglers, cutting back the walkway between the truck and the study (my least favourite task), and clipping back pittosporums which overhang the path to the truck and over the upper veg bed.

It is now mid-afternoon; Bean has been walked and I'm going to get stuck into making salads to eat the rest of the week using the current gluts of carrots, tomatoes and beetroots.

Carrots with preserved lemon, olives and chilli.
Tomatoes with basil, garlic and french dressing.
Beetroots with parsley, onion, cheese and mayo.
