Paul and Virginia

There are many great plaster sculptures in the Kelvingrove Art Galleries and I don't think I have ever blipped this one.

The descriptive note calls the sculpture, created in 1841,  Paul and Victoria.
'In this scene from a French poem, Paul bravely carries his devoted playmate over a raging river. She later dies at sea and Paul dies broken-hearted .
This sentimentality appealed to the Victorians.'

It was good to do something slightly more cultural today and keep well away from any muddy paths.
