Dear O'H dear, Lovely Tea Jenny and The Mini Princesses,

Last Christmas Eve I received a random text from an ex-colleague, Sree.

“Just asking are you in Edinburgh?..thought of preparing Briyani and lamb curry for Christmas… I can drop food at your home”

I was slightly baffled (especially bearing in mind that Sree and I have very infrequent contact). An image flashed through my head of explaining to the olds that turkey was out this year and amusing as that was, I thanked him and politely refused, explaining that I had already bought and prepared all the food for Christmas Day.

Sree didn’t see the problem and was quite insistent…

“You can have extra Indian food in your menu tomorrow”

Given that fitting everything in the fridge for Christmas Day feels like a Mensa challenge, the idea of extra food had the potential to lead to a mini breakdown so we agreed that another time might be better.

And that time was today! He messaged earlier this week to say he was going to make food for us. I did put on my big girl pants to explain that I don’t eat red meat so he came over today with a chicken curry. He said he’d really held back with the heat so hopefully it would be ok for us. It was AMAZING but I was very glad that he had gone with the ‘milder’ version as I’m not sure I could have managed any hotter!

Easter curry - that sounds like a great tradition. Way better than hot cross buns!
