Power of present

Present.

A thought for today!
As I sat on the balcony looking out, fully enjoying the present moment.
It was one of those moments where time stopped. Nothing else mattered.
Being filled with deep peace and contentment.
Knowing I’m positioned exactly where I’m meant to be right now and adoring every moment of it.

In this season, Poppy & I have been praying a lot into holding the tension between promises God has spoken over us for the future, and knowing there is an invitation from Him of partnering in helping to call them in, but also in not missing what He is doing with us in this present moment.

I realised in a new fresh way, that the majority of the time, we do tend to live in the past or the future.
Past being regrets, things we didn’t do or wished we’d done differently. Often playing things over and over in our heads.
Or it could be idolising things that have happened. Great achievements or things we are proud of (which isn’t a bad thing in proportion as long as it doesn’t become an idol).
And then there are future longings. Things God has promised us, prophetic words given to us or senses we personally have. Desires of our heart, yet to see fulfilled, or even fear of the unknown.
And again, in proportion this things are normal, great and even necessary.

But I wonder, how much time do we actually pause in the present?
Culture rushes us from one thing to another.
Get the next, the new.
Even in the Christian world, we’re always building, planning for growth, expansion.

But I feel this fresh invitation from the Father to come and simply BE.
To be with Him.
In the present.
To slow right down.
To take notice.
To feel Him all around.
To breathe deeply.
Let Him fill afresh.
All of our being,
Until we can completely one with Him.

Oh Father, help me to get better at being in the present with you.
To see what you are showing me.
To enjoy being consumed and captivated by your Spirit.
To linger that little bit longer and take stock of what is right before me.

Whatever the day, whatever the weather, whatever my mood, whatever the situation or circumstance.
To recenter myself and come right back into your embrace.

Love you Jesus.
Thank you for revealing fresh revelations of the present. And would you take me deeper into this in days and weeks to come.
Amen.
