Northern Wheatear

A nice cycle in the sunshine out to Tankerness and Rerwick Head. I thought I might get some tysties (black guillemot0 on the low cliffs there, but they must have been off feeding, though I saw one fly over the sea. There were two or three male wheatears there. They migrate from Africa for the summer and the males arrive first. A short-eared owl was hunting over the rough pasture and I saw one near Kirkwall Airport too.
