This'n'That

Jeremy

I thought I'd timed my walk perfectly this morning to avoid ferry traffic, but just like on Sunday, the ferry was behind schedule and was about half an hour late. The parking lot was full and cars were lined up along the road. As I walked down to the village, I saw a guy in the lineup on the road aiming his camera out the window, so I stopped because I didn't want to ruin whatever he was shooting. He put the camera down - and it was our friend Jeremy! "I was trying to get a picture of you!" he said. He saw me coming in his mirror. It was really good to see him. He was our favourite server at Barb's Buns when the cafe was open, but it closed a few years ago. We still run into him now and then, always fun to catch up. He said that he did get a photo of me, so I took one of him. An advantage of the ferry being late was the chance to talk with him.  :-)
I stopped to talk for a few minutes to a ferry worker who was directing traffic heading up the road. It's tricky because there are only two lanes for part of the road down to the ferry parking lot. When the parking lot is full, cars line up in one of the lanes. Two ferry workers have to be there, one at the top of the road and one nearer the village to make sure the lane is clear. The worker told me the reason for the refuelling issue on Sunday. The driver of the huge truck that goes onto to the ferry to refuel it had problems maneuvering to drive off, and apparently it took him over thirty attempts! Say what? Is he not a professional driver? She said that this wasn't the first time this has happened.
Good to have two interactions on my walk this morning!
G had quite a bad reaction to the 2nd shingles shot that he got yesterday. I hope he feels okay for our early appointment off island tomorrow and we have lots to do as well. I'm feeling a bit off too, although I don't have a shot to blame it on. Might be getting a cold. Hope not!
