a lifetime burning

By Sheol

Is it spring yet?

Another cold day, although hopefully it's going to warm up next week.  In the meantime it seems odd to see one's breath pluming out in the cold air, when it's nearly May.

This is the male marsh harrier getting obligingly close in dull conditions - clearly in need of yet another portrait.  I'd rather like him to catch something and then bring it up out of the reeds to carry past me - but there's  been no luck on that front so far this year.  I'd guess from my observation that their success in catching prey averages at less than one in every ten dives.
