It'll be all right on the night

Narrator: it was. I'm sure I wasn't the only person frantically going over the tricky bits all afternoon. Wonderful how a disastrous rehearsal concentrates minds. We all paid attention to Florence, who was a magnetic force driving us along. Yes, there were a few mistakes, but they were easily recovered from and I'm sure the audience didn't notice. Pity there were barely more of them than there were of us ... the concert was paid for by the Mairie, but when I went to distribute flyers last week, there wasn't a single poster up other than on the church door (which opens onto an unfrequented back street). At least there was an article in this morning's paper, thanks to a journalist contacting me on Facebook yesterday.

S agreed to come to the concert, so I gave him my camera and he took a few shots -- a couple more in extras. Soloist Myriam (first extra) hobbled onto the stage wearing sparkly gold trainers under her evening dress because she sprained her ankle falling downstairs last week.

The Mairie "generously" laid on some orange juice and four bottles of wine afterwards ... long gone are the days when we used to get a buffet!
