Relaxed stitching

Cold and damp today so I have been sorting books, editing my next Blipbook, reading . . . and stitching. A current challenge is this hexagon log cabin colour wheel - primary and secondary colours. I was a little dubious as to whether I would be able to find the range of colours amongst my fabrics, as I don't usually go for bright colours, but in the end I found a good selection.

As I worked I was looking at all the pieces and wondering where they came from. Some were pieces from when I did a lot of dyeing of fabrics, some are bits left over  from things like dresses and bags that I made in the past.

I am really enjoying this different way of making patchwork - hand sewing instead of machine stitching; measuring by eye rather than being accurate; choosing pieces as you go along, rather than having the work all planned out . . . and of course using what I have in the way of fabric, rather than buying new. Very much like it would have been done in the past.
