‘Flat Battery’

I had to call our breakdown service this morning when our little Citigo wouldn't start.

While the lights all worked, the starter motor wouldn't turn and sounded as if it was jammed.

I had feared the worst, but the guy who came out quickly established that it was just a flat battery.

This is the first time we've ever had this problem - even in winter -and I was sceptical when he suggested all would be sorted by giving the car a decent long run, especially when, when he turned the ignition off, we found it again wouldn't start!

It may have been the first time, but I also realised that I couldn't remember ever replacing the battery in all the ten years we'd had the car.

So, it was up to Kwik Fit, who confirmed it wouldn't hold its charge, for a new battery. Car batteries aren't cheap these days, but it's been a long time since I had to get one!

Around 11 am, I eventually had some breakfast!
