Purple Sandpipers

Work in the morning and got up to Birsay for a few hours in the afternoon. The winds have swung round to favour the spring migrants moving north, but still thin on the ground. I did see a wheatear gathering nesting material, though. Several whimbrel about, though no shot. I may go to Shapinsay tomorrow where a lot are reported. The purple sandpipers looked good against the vivid greens of the shore.
