Evermorn Springs

Something a little different today... it's been very quiet and the weather has been pretty grim, so I spent some time working on a few image editing projects that I have on the go. I've had a fascination with virtual worlds since I started gaming with my sons about 15 years ago, and I've enjoyed exploring exotic and otherworldly landscapes nearly as much as I like getting out for a hike or a bike ride in the real countryside.

For a long time, I've wanted to do a project where I captured virtual landscapes in the same way as I would approach real-life landscape photography, and the technology has finally caught up to point where good results are possible, even with much older games. Modern software such as Topaz Gigapixel AI does a very good job with graphic images – often better than with real photos – boosting the resolution, eliminating pixellated edges and bringing out the underlying details in the scene.
