A view from Jeanneb

Some of our own

at the Steam Punk event in Haworth this afternoon where we (ATN community choir) were singing.

Great fun as always. We were stood nearly at the top of the Main Street in front of the Black Bull Pub ( see extra)
If you know Haworth you will know the Main Street is steep and made of cobbled setts, it’s supposed to be access only but you’d be amazed how many many cars we had to stop for even though we were standing off the road. As we arrived we could hear the church bells ringing as there has been a wedding so this added to the chaos as several people, including bridesmaids, seemed to be parked up behind the rise where we were standing!

Recently this May Day Bank holiday weekend has been a Forties event and indeed we did see a couple of couples in forties dress as we were leaving, don’t kniw why they’ve decided to change it.
We also had a couple of years with the Tour de Yorkshire at this time which sadly is no more.
We had our little assistant conductor again as we did, suitably dressed up and she seemed to know all the words.
Being a new event I don’t think there were as many quite as elaborately dressed as usual as when we do this in October.

I chose the blip as these three are from our choir, when we started doing these events only a few people entered into the dressing up but numbers are rising. You can even see me in my hat in the extra with friend A who has made a splendid job of her costume considering she doesn't sew - see extra collage. This was just a start for me and I will try to add a few touches for future events ( I have some Peacock feathers!) maybe some lace without outlaying to much expenditure. We were amazed that people  asked if they could take our photographs!

Not quite Ripon Cathedral but still a fun afternoon and just over the hill so not far to go.
