A Beautiful Morning

This morning I drove over to Sculthorpe Moor for when it opened at 9. There are just so many birds around at the moment and singing for all their worth. I had a couple of nice chats with volunteers, they were both telling me about the lack of kingfishers around. This Great White Egret was the star of the show today, coming down to catch fish in one of the ponds. I also got photos of the swan on her nest, a whitethroat, a reed bunting, an orange tip butterfly and a poor photo through the trees of a tawny owl in its box (see collage in extras). I spent a lovely 15 mins just sitting on one of the benches listening to reed and sedge warblers in front of me, a cetti's warbler shouting behind me, and watching two marsh harriers high up having an argument over territory. A really delightful visit. This afternoon I weeded the paths and road / kerb edge for my property and two of my neighbours. Then I edited my photos. I'm just watching my blue tit in the box, she's very unsettled today, I wonder if it's the warm day or if it's because her eggs are due to hatch soon.
