Rainbow

I woke up early It looked sunny and windy outside, I dozed and then read my book.  It’s so nice to be on holiday.  TT had been up at the crack of dawn to do some marking for work.  I found him in the kitchen.  He had been cold, so had lit a fire, as he couldn’t work out how to get the radiator in the kitchen to work.  It was chilly, unless you were standing right in front of the fire.

I left him to his marking and went out for a wander and an explore.  The tide was very high and was crashing over the walkway/roadway.  I walked along to the beach – there was no beach, and explored some of the “backstreets”.  I also checked out the path to Crovie – the next village, but there was a sign saying the path was closed.  The tide was too high to investigate.

Once TT had given up on his marking, we had brunch.  We then left BB to his studying (allegedly) and headed out.  First stop was MacDuff, a small town focused around a busy harbour.  We wandered around the harbour area and walked up to the war memorial, located  on top of a hill,  which provided us with great views all around and over to Banff.  It was warm in the sun, but very windy, and the wind was not very warm.

We then headed over to Banff, and wandered around.  It was quite a contrast to MacDuff, with all its Georgian architecture. Even the police station was a mansion house.  When we  got back to our village, there was no parking, but we found somewhere at the opposite end of the village to park.   TT made a chicken curry, and I went out for a walk along the beach.  There are two burns which run down to the beach.  I got over the first one easily enough, but not the second, as wellies would have been required.  I also checked out the Crovie path, and could see that there had been a landslide, but it had been cleared, so the path is passable. We’ll explore that properly another day.

It was then home for tea, and to FaceTime TT’s mum.  Later the boys watched From Russia with Love and I read my book.

There were a few showers this afternoon, and another this evening, which made for good rainbows.  The extras are the lighthouses at eh entrance to MacDuff and Banff harbours, and a rainbow in Banff.
