The second half of life..

Blue Blur

It always intrigues/frustrates me that a roast dinner is hours in the making but only minutes in the eating.  Today I slow-roasted a leg of lamb.........delicious yes.....plenty of meat for dinner tomorrow and probably a few sandwiches too.......but 5 hours of slow roasting.......??  It's probably the time that is the reason I rarely cook roasts these days, though I do have to confess, it was yummy!

I finally cleared up the dead tree branches I chopped down a few weeks ago.  Nice to add a few home-grown pieces of firewood to the other wood in the shed.  There's something distinctly primal about cutting your own firewood......or maybe the 'Alone Australia' series I've been watching on TV has just brought out my inner cavewoman?  I've finished watching series 1 and have started series 2 which, despite being called 'Alone Australia', is based in the South Island of New Zealand.  Primal indeed!

As for today's pic - nothing primal about that at all........an aquilegia seed head taken in shadow which has produced a beautiful blue colour.  Nothing in focus, nothing sharp.........a bit like my holiday plans.....

The house sitter I had lined up has confirmed she has covid and is probably on about day 5 - I have suggested we don't continue.  I've contacted someone else but at this short notice, I'm not holding my breath.  Lots of other emails and texts preparing for the possibility I will have friends pop in and feed Minnie.
