A follow up.

We bought a lap blanket ( The purchase) a wee while back. Very nice. We tracked down the man that made it, Jimmy Hutchison and popped over to say hello and possibly get a blip. He was having an open day and was inviting anyone interested into having a go. Fascinating stuff. He isn't a weaver to trade, he used to be a joiner. He sourced an old loom from Galasheils and restored it back to working condition. He has since restored a second loom and a wee cottage industry was born. Clever lad.

They are based in Newburgh, where we enjoyed lunch in the village and visited other studios. There are a lot of run down buildings on the main street but it is a grand little place that back in the day must have been very prosperous. The architecture on the main street is well worth a view, no two houses the same. Fishing, quarrying, weaving and a drop off point for goods heading to Perth (the last navagable point on the river Tay for boats over two hundred tonnes).

All in all, a grand day out.
