Never too late to learn...

Not a lot of tennis going on at the club this morning, but boy was there a lot of insect action! I had never realised that cotoneaster flowers were an apian equivalent of crack cocaine, there were hundreds of the little furry fellas crawling all over one fairly small bush.

I had also been unaware that cotoneaster is listed as an invasive, non-native species under the Countryside Act of 2010 - a fact that I only discovered when googling the correct spelling of the plant name.

The extra is of an industrious little spider who was busy finishing wrapping her latest victim for later consumption - although her snack appeared to be yellow and black striped, I think it was a wasp, for which I have little affection, rather than a bee
