Scratch built

I started this morning with three piles of bits and by teatime I had got it all back together.

It took almost 24 hours for my tiny dabs of Araldite to cure, but they sanded beautifully, and by the end I couldn't feel them at all.  So although the chrome tube has all these dark spots it's smooth, with a capital 'smooth'.  I couldn't fix the galaxy of circular fine scratches so I gave them as good a polish as possible.  New PTFE bush: check.  New fork oil: check.  Oil level set with millimetric precision: check.  Fork and axle alignment to within a quarter of a degree of right angularity: check.  I also invented a way to deal with the damage to the mudguard that the rusted fixings caused, by using one of them to mould hot glue into each of the recesses where they fit.  That worked too!  I will leave Fidra to recharge her electrons, and I can give the MOT garage a call.

I was looking at the piece of oak I got from the wood recycling place way back before Christmas, and started thinking that I really ought to make a proper case for all my loose sockets.  Because a gal can't have too many projects.
