Studio Tour

The inspiring sunshine this morning put my sister and I in the mood to go exploring the countryside. The perfect way to do that? Pack a lunch, hop in the car and follow the trail around the area to a variety of sites on the Scugog Spring Studio Tour - just north of here around Lake Scugog...

Not all the sites are actually studios..but places that artists can display and sell their wares...paintings, quilts, weavings, jewellery, sculptures, pottery, glasswork, wood turning items etc...but our favourites were the two actual working studios we visited - a sculptor's workshop (extra) and a weaving studio.

The lavender field site of course did not have a studio or even lavender in bloom but it had lots of items made with lavender, as well as lavender plants to start your own field...I bought three. (Mine will be a very small "field")

Our favourite non-studio stop was the one where two artists chose to display their wares at a cider shop/orchard/farm. Aha! Very savvy marketers they were..How could you pass that one by? ... especially on a hot day at lunch time! (extra)

That icy cold cider hit the spot. We considered the sample trays, but chose one infused with lavender..recommended to us by the lavender growers up the road..(some more clever marketing at work, n'est-ce pas?) Added attractions at the site were some adorable lambs in the field, and picnic tables that came complete with two charming border collies to keep you company...If there was an award for venues, this one would have our vote for Best in Show...

We went home with some treasures and some fun memories...
