Running Club 1967

I hand painted this Subbuteo Table Soccer team in 1967 when I was thirteen years old. My mother was suffering from a severe mental illness and I was trying to hang on to my childhood. My pals and I were all into Subbuteo and for me it was the great escape. I’d been given a crocked set of players  with different kits and turned them into this. I’m proud of how well I managed to do it. (I painted with pins to get the stripes.) There is no such team as Running Club. I invented it and the kit too and I made the players multi-racial. This box of plastic figures has survived against fairly overwheming odds. It’s not nostalgia, it’s part of who I am. It's kept in a safe drawer.
