Flapping

I sort of managed to finish yesterday's tasks at work, so I called it a day and took another leisurely ride to the big pond because I wanted to play with the Merlin app again.  I sat and listened for quite a while.  The best result was over a couple of minutes', in which the app identified a Chaffinch, Robin, Carrion Crow, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Skylark and Song Thrush.  The last one was by far the most vocal in the time I spent there and I started to recognise some of the sounds, and some of the repetitions in the calls.

I had also brought my big lens – albeit attached to the small camera – and although the heron wasn't around, I caught one of the swans mid-landing.  I rattled off half a dozen shots and they were all quite good in their own way but I think this one was best.

Then it was to the shops to buy some alcohol.  I suppose it's all in a good cause, but no-one will be drinking any of it!
