Still There

And looking much as it did twelve years ago. Just round the corner from my dentist in the New Town. Emergency visit as I had lost a 'bit' of tooth. Turns out it was more than a little bit and a filling and a chunk of tooth had gone - strangely without being being aware of it. The dentist said the tooth had had a crack in it and as there was no associated pain it might have happened in stages, maybe overnight. Upshot is that the tooth can't be saved and I need to go back on Friday to get it removed. Which is where the complications kick in. The dentist was worried about leaving a hole as it would unbalance my mouth, probably leading to problems on the other side and a bridge had its own problems, leaving an implant as her recommended solution. Complete with a hefty bill. Of course it is optional but in practise I know that spending money on health is the thing to do, even if it's a bit of a shock to the finances.
