Vaynol cow and calves

The Vaynol cows at Dumfries Estate among the rarest not only in Britain but globally, with fewer than 150 breeding animals remaining anywhere in the world. This year eleven Vaynol calves have been born at King Charles's Estate in Ayrshire.

The breed is currently listed as 'critical' by the Rare Breed Survival Trust, which has the King as it's patron.

It was a great day for a visit but for me it was a few degrees too hot ..... just had to have an ice cream before heading for home.
