Napoleonic re-enactment

Backblip

Yesterday morningI went to a plant sale put on by a local gardening club and I bought several plants of course.

In the afternoonI went to a Napoleonic re-enactment at the castle.  There was living history, drills and the re-enactment of a seige between King George's troops and the French army.

I couldn't get close to get a decent close up as we were behind ropes to keep us safe from guns and cannons firing. Soldiers were "shot dead" during the battle but miraculously came back to life at the end when the crowd clapped.

My son O is an expert in the Napoleonic Wars from when he watched the film "Waterloo" aged six years old.  He missed the re-enactment as he is in Germany at the moment touring Napoleonic sites there (three so far).  He really should join one of these societies!
