MONO MONDAY - PEOPLE
We woke this morning to the sound of heavy rain so I didn’t exactly jump out of bed.
When I eventually got dressed - at about 11 o’clock, we decided to go out for a wander in the rain and ended up in a coffee shop called “Big Cheese” - owned and run by a very friendly guy named Stuart.
As the shop name suggests, it also sells cheese - lots of different ones - and also, according to the menu on the table “A cornucopia of comestibles” including Whortleberry Jam, which is a local delicacy.
After chatting to Stuart, I explained about Blip and asked if he would mind being my subject today - and he graciously agreed. Surprise, surprise, it even fits the theme, despite there being only one person!
We will definitely be going back - the coffee was excellent and Mr HCB wants to take home some of the unusual cheeses, a flagon of Somerset Cider and a jar of Whortleberry jam.
After our coffee, we wandered further up the High Street and then back to have a look in the Grade 1 Listed Anglican Church of St Dubricius - see extra - a beautiful and ancient church, whose first Rector was recorded in 1297. There is also a very old Yew tree in the grounds, which is said to be over 1,000 years old.
The stained glass windows were beautiful but I rather liked the one on the lower left - with the colours being the trees outside in the church grounds.
Thank you for your kind comments and apologies for not responding. Posting is rather “hit and miss”! In fact I had just typed this out and then lost it!!
We are in for the afternoon - Mr HCB has found a jigsaw from the many upstairs and I’m going to put my feet up, read and “listen to the rhythm of the falling rain…”
