Wow!

The bees were rolling in the pollen. Rolling! They looked giddy, like kids running in circles on the beach.

You wouldn’t guess from this brilliant color, but the sun never did come out today. I think we’re in Coastal Summer mode: low fog/drizzle in the morning, segueing into grey for the afternoon.

I’m in the middle of taking apart a sweater I made several years ago. I’ve never worn it, and can’t imagine what I was thinking to make such a thing. I’ve thought of a better use for the yarn, so I’m gradually picking it apart and rolling up the strands. I thought, of course, that it would be much easier to just pul a thread and unravel everything, but something in the way it was constructed left things a bit more complicated. There’s lots of squinting and picking involved, and muttering.

I didn’t do any yard work today, but I made it to the nursery to look at more plants, did a couple loads of laundry, and had a nice visit with an old friend. Oh, and we made the rounds at the Farmer’s Market: fish, lettuce, strawberries, oranges, mushrooms and sprouts.

Just found out that the NY Jets, our grandson’s team, will be playing the SF 49ers in the opening game of the football season in September! It’s a big deal for them to play locally and we are going to go. It will be my first time at a pro game, and we will have my son as a guide, so we’re all set. I’d be reluctant to try and navigate the whole thing on our own. They’re scheduled to play in London in October, but I don’t think we’ll make that one.
