Trip to Ely

This afternoon we went to Ely. It seemed to be with an arty intention.  Amazing sculptures in the cathedral grounds.

We headed to Babylon Gallery by the river.  The work of Mark Ward, conceptual artist was on display.  He had constructed small stage sets using salvaged materials: paper, clay, string for example, and created birds, animals and nature settings.  These small sets were then painted large on canvas.

I liked the quirky, humorous quality and the photo realism.  The concept appealed to me.  Mr was completely unimpressed.

Then had tea nearby at Peacocks Tearoom.  I'm not a great tea drinker usually preferring a cup of jo instead but Peacocks is different.  Any tea I've had there is superb.  Today I had a refreshing pot of Darjeeling.  Naturally the cake to accompany was a delicately orange and rosemary polenta cake in a gorgeous setting of the back garden.

I wonder if the water is filtered to give such a wonderful, memorable flavour.

Walked hound when we arrived home then fed neighbour's cats.

Pleasant evening everyone.
