One Day Wonder

Moraea lurida, a South African bulbous plant in the iris family.  Like many of it's tribe, each flower lasts only a day.   This one has grassy leaves which are yellowing now, the flowers atop stiff, spindly stems are lass than two inches across.  A fleeting beauty although there will be a succession of flowers over a few days.

I was up early for the train journey home from Birmingham.  Home in good time for a three o'clock doctors appointment that was delayed by a medical emergency ... until half past four!   I have referrals for a scan and for physio.  Hopefully the scan will tell us what is causing some of my more worrying symptoms although the doc was reassuring about what might and might not be going on.  I also have antibiotics so I certainly can't complain that I wasn't taken seriously!

All the above delayed Meg's walk until the evening.  She was pleased to see me but I think having Jamie and Bella here offset my absence considerably :-)  We walked from Bailey Bridge and she was able to run free for quite a while.  A beautiful evening for a walk - extra pic.  The flower wins out for it's rarity ... beautiful views can be had every day here :-)   I spent an hour or so afterwards at pottery, the glazing continues, emerging after sunset to a wonderful sky - second extra pic.
