Lake Views

We hopped on the train with our bikes this morning with the goal of cycling the 40 mile circmuference around Lake Trasimeno, Italy’s fourth largest lake. We got off of one of the three stations on the lake. Forty miles is a long distance, especially on a borrowed bike, so we had backup plans: to just do an out and back of a short section or ride to one of the other stations and take the train back. Fortunately, the padded cycling shorts I lent Camille made riding the borrowed bike a bit more comfortable, plus her determination to do the entire route made it possible. The mostly gravel, mostly flat path more or less followed the edge of the lake, passing through resort camping areas, a bird-sanctuary, farm-land, olive groves, a maritime pine forest, with the occasional asphalt road through a small town with a castle.
