Magical Misty Swim

The sun shone, there was no wind and so what better idea could there be than to go to the beach and have a swim in sunshine? Daughter#1 and I set off in high spirits later than usual to benefit from a high tide and we were a bit taken aback to find Portobello wrapped in haar. It will burn off soon we told ourselves but it didn’t and we were floating in a calm sea with nothing to distinguish sea from sky. I imagine it would have been discombobulating had we been out of our depth and further away from the groyne so that there were no visible landmarks. Paddle boards, kayaks and swimmers loomed out of the mist like ghostly images - it was all very surreal.

When we left for home the sun was shining out of a blue sky just 100yds up the road. However I think we both enjoyed our magical misty swim at Groyne 5.
At Groyne 4 there was a Paddle Out Protest for Surfers against Sewage with lots of people on the beach and in the water.

To mark such a lovely, warm summery Saturday, Daughter #1 and I are eating out at Buttaburger tonight. Daughter #2 may or may not join us.
