Home Day!

After what seems like a month today is the day we head back home.

We were up and packed and left our bags in the apartment while we went for breakfast (to Illy of course) and the lovely waitress took our picture after delivering us our perfect cappuccino and pastries.

We went for a walk up the waterside and then through the old town . Bought some focaccia from the bread shop and had another coffee and shared pastry there then headed back to the apartment to pick up our bags.

Ten minute walk to the railway station, massive train loads of carriages and on time.

Airport experience in Marco Polo was good. Straight through security , plenty seats in departures, then our gate no flashed up so we went to the gate. No need for me to rush I only had my underseat bag. It didn’t matter about speedy boarders anyway as it was onto the bus to the plane! I was last on so first out.

There were two folks in my row but the row in front was empty so I asked the steward if I could move to it . It was an emergency exit so I had to get instructions to open the door.

Flight over was half an hour earlier which seemed to throw the ground staff as the stairs weren’t there for us to get down, took 10 mins and it was low, low cloud in Edinburgh, 12c cold for us.

The usual fiasco for Border Force with jobsworths on the door telling folks not to use their mobile phones while queuing for passport control (seems like it’s a restricted area ). I didn’t agree with this rule (its stupidity) and continued my texting. When I reached the top the crummy BF person directing us to the free automatic passport barriers was slacking so I moved to a free one (no 3) hey you stop he shouted , I didn’t say to go. I gave him a withering look and then No 4 was free, along with no 3 and he directed me to there. I really wanted to go to no 3 but I thought what’s the point . Do they really need to be there can’t we just see what’s free and go anyway????

Off we went to the bus to the car park. Frozen. Into car, heating on and hour to home where again the heating was put on.

The garden has exploded - much greenness. Lots of jobs to be done.

Fell into bed at 9:30 which is really 10:30 for us.

We’ve had a fabulous two weeks and loved all our travels, food and accommodation. There was no need to move anywhere this year !
