The bridge in the wood

Really, it was too crepuscular for photos. It was also raining, the way it rains when you're actually walking through a cloud on a mountainside. But the familiar woodland next to the Puck's Glen car park suddenly struck me as beautiful, even though the gold of autumn wasn't really apparent, even though the pale green on the foreground trees comes from lichen rather than leaves. Something to do with the mysterious depth of the woodland, the enticing little path over the bridge, the strange clarity of the scene despite the encroaching dusk ...

And we didn't allow ourselves to be enticed by the path. Not today.
