Groundswell- art for artists

This afternoon saw the launch of Groundswell- - a self-help group for artists in central Scotland following the closure of the Changing Room gallery in Stirling.

Lesley McDermott and Jamie Jack, both art teachers in the area, recognized a need for a focal point for artists to meet on a regular basis and they happened to mention this to Jane Cameron, curator of the Stirling University art collection with whom they were working on a schools project.

Jane (pictured) offered them a meeting room in the Pathfoot building as a base to meet once a month on a Saturday afternoon.

And today marked that launch. Over 20 of us turned up and we were taken on a guided tour of the university art collection before breaking up for an informal networking session.

I had to leave early because I am off on holiday…
