Hill Top Ramblings

Green Hellebore

This useful little plant is found around some ancient dwellings at Howe Ridding Wood, suggesting that they were deliberately planted by those who dwelt there.

It is quite poisonous, a powerful analgesic and anti parasitical.

I find it quite attractive in a subdued way, and love the link with the past.

The dogs and I were doing our first butterfly count of the season, on this lovely spring day. We saw orange tip, peacock and green hairstreak, primroses and the last few wild daffodils. Gorgeous!
