MeriRand & the NW Passage

Seeing the Setup

There's actually a fair number of reusable items used in cataract surgeries... delicate little tools, but they're reused! Annnnd then there's the things that aren't reused, which in fact end up in red bag waste ("infectious" but how infectious is eye goo really?). The disposables are mostly gowns, drapes, and packaging or labels. This is one surgery that, sharps aside, might actually be really easy to take to "zero-waste," but I guess I will learn more about that come November.
