Criss-Cross

The coal conveyor that fed the now defunct Cockenzie power station in East Lothian. It's in the process of being demolished. In fact the title of the blip should be 'Legodude Cross'. Last Saturday I bought a Nikon Coolpix s9600 as my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55 has started developing a fault after four years of intense service. Plan long term is to get a DSLR but until then and even after then I still need a reliable compact with decent features. The s9600 is 16mp and has a 20x optical zoom. Reviews I read before purchasing all rated it highly. Well, in reality the autofocus is patchy, the images are flat, colours are not life-like, focus whilst using the zoom is even worse, the image on the LCD viewer is often much better than the actual photo when viewed. I don't know if it is because the Sony was a higher end product back when I bought it but that was four years ago and it is a compact. Buying the Nikon set me back £200 including accessories and now I'm stuck with a rubbish camera that I can't return as it has been used. Meanwhile, there are people starving to death and being blown apart in their own homes so I can't really complain.
