The Kiltwalk

What they do for kids charities is phenomenal!

While we're all busy organizing The Kiltwalk it's sometimes easy to just look at the list of names on the "who is taking part list" and see just that, a list of names, however this year some of these names are reaching out to tell us their stories.

We've had training updates from David Donn and Chris Pinnock, training injuries shared by Paul Wilson (hope you're on the mend) along with some very personal stories that bring a lump to the throat as we read why the Wroniecki family are joining The Kiltwalk this year.

However there are two stories that make me think The Kiltwalk will go on for many years to come because "the youngsters of today" are helping make a difference and that is epitomised by the story we had from 15 year old Sarah Grigor, who will be taking part in her second KiltWalk to raise more money for Children's Charities and today I would like to introduce you to 18 year old Marcus Nash from Glasgow who has become a keen follower of our Twitter account @thekiltwalk We found Marcus and tweeted him @marcusnash and he followed straight back and now, he's posting almost as many tweets about The Kiltwalk as we are.

So if you're looking at Marcus and thinking, I know his face from somewhere, then perhaps you can remember the CBBC program Half Moon Investigations where Marcus played Herod Sharkey, or perhaps you've been to see Peter Mullan's film Neds, then you might remember him as Patrick. Or if you're a River City fan, then you're thinking wait a minute it's that boy "Ally the bully" who gave poor wee Nicole a hard time (I'd like to say I googled this River City stuff but I have to say I didn't, as I'm a Tuesday night addict).

Yes that's right, Marcus was "Ally the bull" however there was a happy ending, because you may remember Ally 'booted' the ball through the door of the disused building, where Adeeb then fell through the floor and would have bled to death if it wasn't for Dr. Dan who came to the rescue, which was handy, cause Dr. Dan was in Michael's bad books. So all's well that ends well.

So we're delighted Marcus is following @thekiltwalk and not only that Marcus has, as you can see in the picture become a huge supporter and he will be joining around 500 others to walk the 26 miles from Hampden to Loch Lomond.

We always like to find out why people get involved with The Kiltwalk and what their story is and it's unusual to find such a young guy with such forthright opinions and views about helping charities, so when we asked Marcus to sum up in one sentence why he was supporting @thekiltwalk his answer was short and to the point when he quite simply said "what they do for Scotland's children's charities is phenomenal!" and that Mr Nash, is good enough for us, we salute you.

Keep an eye out for Marcus starring in the new Christopher Fallen film Green.
