The Kiltwalk

"Summer Lovin had me a blast"

For those of a certain age, the words "Summer Lovin" set you off and running and before you know it you're either Olivia Newton John, or in my case John Travolta, with a leather jacket on and a quiff and to this day, you still know every word and every dance move, particularly on the Karaoke after a few beers.

However in the case of Joanne Kane "Summer Lovin" is very different and is all about the love of her friends Chris and Karen Wroniecki who are well kent faces round these parts, as is their wonderful three year old daughter 'Summer'

Joanne, like so many of the Wroniecki friends, was desperate to join in with their fund raising activities, however there was one slight problem!!

Although the name sounds as if she lives 'just around the corner' Joanne actually lives, with her husband Sean and young children in Wellington, New Zealand, so taking part in The KiltWalk wasn't going to be that simple, although the Great Wall of China Walk isn't too far in September, well it's a lot closer than Scotland anyway.

So how do I know all this, well as Mr KiltWalk Social Media man I scour websites and peoples Facebook pages for stories to retell and its by hanging around Chris and Karen's pages that I first came across Joanne several weeks ago and thought to myself "Wow, this will be a great story, but will she or won't she?"

Now I know I tend to babble on, so at this point I'm going to let you read Joanne's words which so beautifully explain why she set out to do what she eventually did.

Joanne's Story

"So...I'm DOING IT!! At 8am on March 26th, I'm shaving my head for my wee pal, Summer Wroniecki....a very brave 3 year old little girl who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

She is the daughter of two of our best friends, in Scotland...so I challenge anyone of you to shave your head for a little girl who doesn't get a choice about whether she has hair or not...it's just hair...right???

Please, please, please donate to this amazing cause by donating at http://www.justgiving.com/Christian-Wroniecki cause I'm pretty nervous about being bald so I would hate to think it was all for nothing!!... Thanks heaps ?"

Well fellow KiltWalkers and Blipfoto people I think you will agree with me that Joanne had no need to be nervous about how she might look as she looks simply 'stunning' and on top of stunning, she also has that wonderful glow about her that radiates naturally when you've done something as wonderful as she has.

Joanne has of course thrown down a challenge, however I don't think I have enough hair left to raise £5, never mind what she's raised so far, so I'll need to stick with The KiltWalk as my means of raising cash for all of the charities we support.

So Joanne, be careful what you post, where you post as you never know whose going to be talking about you, but you can be sure everyone of the KiltWalk walkers will know all about you.

Well done you.
