Alan Bennett at Hay
Alan Bennett received a long standing ovation tonight at the Hay Festival following his award for his contribution to drama.
It says something that this much loved writer, now an octogenarian, was able to fill the biggest tent, the Tata, on a very cold evening mid week.
He was talking about his latest film “The Lady in the Van” the true story of the homeless woman who camped outside his home in London for 15 years. We were shown some clips. It's hilarious and Maggie Smith is fabulous, as ever.
We have spent most of the day walking in the Brecon Beacons national park – hence the photo of this classic mountain ridge.
