A Welcome to New Users

Hi everyone. Here’s the news of the small update we mentioned on Friday’s Blip Central post. If you look at the comments on that post, dogwithnobrain wins the prize for guessing what it is!

One of the things we missed when the site was originally redesigned was the ability to easily find new blippers. There used to be a “New” browse page on the site, and it was nice to pop along every so often and give encouragement to some new users.

So – from today you’ll see a new Browse category at the top of your screen called “New”. Why not pop along now and say hi to a few new blippers? Having the stamina to blip everyday takes some commitment, as you’ll all know – and think back to those early days before the habit had properly set in. A little encouragement by this wonderful, friendly community is the thing that really makes the difference.

Of course, we’d like to see the site continue to grow to help with its sustainable running and to lower costs for all: encouraging new blippers is a great way to do that too. New blippers get 30 days free full membership – can you help to get them hooked?

The New view won’t be available on the phone apps initially. We may well add it over time, but to update them is a little more involved. Remember that the site works really well on the phone’s browser as well – so you can always look there in the meantime.

One thing to note: the New view will show all new blippers, including those pesky advertising journals that do get set up from time to time. Don’t worry, if you see a post that is an obvious advert for a plumber, diet pill or essay writing service, just hit the “Report” flag on the post (click the “More Info” plus sign). You can flag it as an advert to the moderators, and we’ll take a look and remove it as soon as we get a chance.

As we said on Friday, it’s just a little update, but it’s one we felt was important.
