One Down.

Katie woke me up at 3.15 this morning. "Mummy, I had a wonderful dream about the festival". I asked her what happened. "The big girls were late so we had to go first and we were great then we won!" I managed to get her to go back to sleep for a few hours. But 6am and she was wide awake and really excited. She told me she thought she needed to do some music, she was sad she'd miss it out of her day if she didn't. And it kept her mind busy and her focus calm. The piano does that for both of us. I'd decided to get her totally ready at the festival venue, apart from washing her hair, as the route gets very busy during the rush hour. They were dancing at 9am.

We found the room for our school and they really enjoyed getting ready with their friends, including the big girls who's section had been joined with their section too. Katie's hair takes a while for this one and the make up is more than normal, but they were dressed and ready to go in time for a run through with the teacher.

It turns out, that Katie's dream had been a good sign. I am not sure I have ever been more proud of Katie on stage. She went wrong- her teacher had changed it yesterday, but she forgot the change and got out of sync with herself. Consequently they ended up on the wrong side of the stage midway through. However, and it was a big however, they pulled it together, got themselves sorted and got themselves back how they should have been within a couple of phrases. They covered it well, they listened to the music and they thought about what they were doing. It was absolutely hideous to watch as a mummy though. I could see Katie's eyes looking for me. But I was so proud of them for being able to hold it together and get it straight. And they won!! Shiny wee trophy now sat on her shelf. Absolutely brilliant start to the week for them. They're really proud of themselves, and I am too.

We had a coffee/snack and a chat for a while after we'd got their photos done - with the lovely photographer allowing me the same deal of buy one of hers, let me take one on mine (including lending me her light trigger) then took the girls to MacD's. By the time we'd got home & had to go into town for a few bits for tomorrow, Katie wanted more food and polished off a sausage sandwich as well!

It's ballet solos tomorrow. The three littlies are all really psyched. They're then all having a play date together after so are excited. The rest of this afternoon for Katie though is homework that needs getting over with, music and a bit of ballet practise before an early to bed.

Festival week... chaos, stressful but so fabulous.
