Where Toadstools Grew

Mowers don't solely cut the grass.
Daisy and dandelion bite the dust.
And a pile of feathers, once jackdaw or rook,
is swallowed, no longer to shake our trust.

Spring air smells sweet of fresh green sap,
while shadows lie smooth as shapely trees.
Mowers do more than cut the grass.
They reveal the weight of watching bees.

Written while Mr PP was mowing the lawn. The shadows' lying smooth requires a little poetic licence. The ground is so uneven, the bumps are simply less obvious. And if the grass isn't cut frequently, the contours make it near impossible.  See my Extra for the temporarily eliminated toadstools!
