Breakfast Outside

This glorious weather continues and today we ate breakfast outside, on the deck.. There have been a lot of sunny days, but out of the sun it has been chilly. Today warm air blew in so even in the shade the temperature was around 15°C. As you see the snow piles are still around, even if they are shrinking fairly quickly now. Flowers are pushing up as the snow goes and in a day or so I'm sure we'll get our first daffodil. A large primrose yellow butterfly flew across the garden.
I helped the spring along today by digging out some of that big heap, throwing the snow onto the field, where it will melt quickly. Did a little raking and cleared debris from around some bits of the garden. The honeyberry bushes have appeared from beneath the snow and all are showing small buds, even the two cutting still in pots.
I also ordered a new cover for the destroyed kayak tent so in a week or so the kayaks and assorted gardening tools can be stored in their right place, instead of cluttering up the "barn".
Tonight I cooked and mashed potatoes. Nothing so exciting about that except that I now have only one helping of potatoes left from last year's harvest. The spuds we picked in September have lasted us until May!
This warm sunny weather looks set to continue a while yet with the next three days reaching highs of 16 or 17°C. Those last bits of snow will really be shrinking rapidly!
