The Wye at Hay

The good news - sunshine at Hay.
Bad news - my iPhone has some major technical problem which I can't solve so I am using M's laptop.

Spent morning mooching around Hay down which is delightful and quirky still with many bookshops including one that had a specialised section of first editions.  But the town no longer has a newsagent, bank or Post Office though after a public outcry there is now a ATM for cash.

Sadiq Khan, mayor of London, and a controversial figure was here doing a talk to promote his new book and there was a strong police presence all day. We heard him speak and his back story is impressive,   a Muslim, one of ten children living in a three bedroom house in Tooting, father a bus driver, mother a seamstress, second generation British he became an international Human Rights lawyer before joining Parliament as an MP and now Mayor of London .

A big attraction this year are the free BBC Radio 4 live broadcasts and podcasts especially with the free headphones. Some people seem to send the entire day in that tent or lounging outside with their headphones on.
Met up with family first time we had seen some for years.
