St Marks

This attractive country church is just 5 minutes from our home, our three children used to go there for Sunday School back in the day.
It is no longer used as a place of worship, like many rural churches the numbers declined over the years and the cost to upkeep these buildings became too much for the parish.
This one was sold a few years back, and the word was it was going to be turned into a restaurant....that hasn't happened.  There wasn't anyone around so I opened the gates, wandering around taking a few photos (freespiral, you would have been proud of me and did we take you there on our way to the Maori Rock drawings?).
It is set among magnificent old oak trees as this photo shows.

Gardening this afternoon....I think (rainie doing a happy dance) I've finished the autumn clean up.  epic .....just as well, as today is the last day of Autumn.  Winter tomorrow, but our temperatures continue to be mid to late teens, very nice thank you very much.

Rainie
