The Princess and the Dog

Day Trip Up North

Dear O'H dear, Lovely Tea Jenny & The Mini Princesses,

The Prince and I went up to Banchory to visit Albert today. I drove the first half on the way up. It’s mainly on the motorway and The Prince has adaptive cruise control in his car which means that when it’s switched on, all you have to do is steer as it even brakes for you when you get close to a car ahead.

“This is great. Don’t you think it’s a bit like being on a dodgem?” I asked.

The Prince confirmed that he does not, in fact, think this!

As I drove, I happily chatted - both to The Prince and back at the radio, sang and threw in the odd bit of chair dancing at a junction which promoted him to ask “Did you take your weirdo pills today?”

To which my razor sharp (and very mature comeback) was “Yeah, I stole them from you.”

The Duke was already at Albert’s when we arrived and the four of us went out for a lovely dinner and honoured Penny’s memory by raising a glass of her favourite kind of wine (NZ Sauvignon Blanc).

Sadly for The Prince, only one of us could drink* so he had to drive all of the return journey. Luckily for him I stayed awake to entertain him with my chat!

C

*I offered. To drive, not to drink!
